Floods In The North West

More bad weather for the North West, although this time just slightly south of Cumbria, which has been worst hit this month.
It is tragic for anybody whose homes have been flooded, so it is particularly insensitive and insulting when the Floods Minister, Rory Stewart, tries to link it to climate change:
Mr Stewart, whose constituency of Penrith and The Border, lies in the flood zone, said on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “We’re looking potentially again today at maybe a month’s rainfall coming in a day. That’s falling on ground that’s very saturated. As the rain falls, the rivers respond very quickly. Certainly what we’ve seen is rainfall levels that nobody’s ever seen before.

Dear Mr and Mrs PLP
I’m sorry to be writing this letter about your children’s poor behaviour. I’ve put it off for some time now, hoping they would see the error of their ways, but on Wednesday it reached a new low, which means I cannot leave you in ignorance any longer.
Before I start I want to reassure you that most of your 232 children are well behaved. They quietly get on with their work for the betterment of their constituents. Some are even a credit to you. However there are some who, well for lack of a better word, are engaging in bullying.

Hot on the heels of the shameful bullying allegations around the death of a young party activist, yet more charges of bullying are emerging against leading members of the Tory Party.
This time Lucy Allan – Tory MP for Telford – has been recorded screaming at a young woman employee who had been signed off sick by her doctor:
“You are on a temporary contract. You are not protected by the law. You do not have 12 months’ service. If you sign yourself off sick … the only option will be to dismiss you.”
